Dry Day Declared in Dima Hasao for Assam Assembly Elections

Haflong, April 1, 2026: The Office of the District Commissioner, Dima Hasao, has announced a dry day across the district ahead of the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections.The order mandates a 48-hour dry period from 5:00 PM on April 7, 2026, to 5:00 PM on April 9, 2026—extending until polling concludes. Additionally, May 4, 2026, the day of vote counting, will observe a dry day until the process ends.All wholesale warehouses, IMFL retail shops, bars, clubs, hotels, and country spirit shops in Dima Hasao will remain closed during these periods. Strict curbs on liquor storage will also apply under excise laws.Violations will invite stringent action under the Assam Excise Act and the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
