Hills Live News Desk
Haflong, June 8: Students of Haflong Government College intensified their agitation on Monday by locking the college gates for three days in protest against alleged discrepancies in the FYUGP Odd Semester examination results declared by Assam University.

The student bodies are demanding immediate intervention from the university authorities, including re-evaluation of answer scripts, greater transparency in the assessment process, and early resolution of withheld and disputed results.A memorandum was earlier submitted to the Vice Chancellor of Assam University through the District Commissioner of Dima Hasao. Despite setting a deadline for a response, the students claimed they have not received any satisfactory assurance from the university.

Student leaders warned that if the university fails to address their concerns within the three-day ultimatum, students from Haflong will travel to Assam University in Silchar and launch a larger democratic protest. The agitating students emphasised that the movement is aimed at safeguarding the academic interests and future of hundreds of affected students. They urged the university administration to resolve the matter without further delay.

Following talks with the principal and faculty of Haflong Government College, the agitating students have temporarily suspended their protest for 36 hours to allow normal college activities to resume. Student leaders said the pause came after assurances that their grievances concerning the FYUGP odd-semester examination results would be forwarded to Assam University. They made clear the suspension is conditional and warned the protest could resume if the university does not provide a concrete response or take corrective action within the given timeframe.
