Morigaon, October 26: As part of the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, launched in Morigaon district today, the Morigaon District Agriculture Department has undertaken a special awareness programme to educate farmers about soil health conservation, the balanced use of chemical fertilisers and the application of organic manure.
As part of the initiative, an awareness programme was organised today at Barchapari under the Moirabari Agriculture Development Circle. Farmers were sensitised to the adverse effects of the excessive and improper use of chemical fertilisers on soil health. Emphasis was laid on the use of organic manure and the balanced application of fertilisers to preserve soil quality and fertility.
In addition, Soil Health Cards were distributed among farmers at a programme held in the conference hall of the District Agriculture Officer’s office in the presence of District Agriculture Officer Dilip Kumar Bora. Discussions were also held on the importance of balanced fertiliser application.
The Soil Health Cards will help farmers understand the nutritional status of the soil on their agricultural land and enable them to make informed decisions regarding the appropriate application of fertilisers according to the specific requirements of their fields.
The programme highlighted the importance of the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ in enhancing agricultural productivity through soil health conservation, reducing the unnecessary use of fertilisers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Officials and employees of the District Agriculture Department were present at the programme.
