Assam Government to Provide Rs 2 Lakh Each to 250 Youths in Dima Hasao : Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announces financial assistance under Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship

Hills Live News,
Haflong, November 2:
In a significant initiative to promote self-reliance and expand employment opportunities among the youth of Dima Hasao, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to 250 youths from the district under the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan.
The initiative aims to encourage young people to become self-employed by setting up their own businesses and small-scale enterprises rather than depending solely on government or private-sector jobs.
The proposed financial assistance is expected to provide the selected beneficiaries with the initial capital required to start their own ventures. Potential areas of engagement include small businesses, service-oriented enterprises, agriculture and allied activities, animal husbandry, handicrafts and other locally viable economic activities.
The scheme assumes particular significance for Dima Hasao, a geographically challenging hill district where formal employment opportunities remain relatively limited. Many local youths are compelled to migrate outside the district and the state in search of livelihood opportunities.
Through this initiative, the state government seeks to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs to establish income-generating activities within their own communities, thereby strengthening the local economy and encouraging the utilisation of indigenous resources.
The Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan is a broader state government initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, financial independence and sustainable self-employment among the youth of Assam.
With the latest announcement, 250 youths of Dima Hasao are expected to benefit from the financial assistance, opening up new avenues for entrepreneurship and economic development in the hill district.
