MASSIVE DIWALI BOOST FOR ASSAM EMPLOYEES: Karmachari Parishad Fires Off High-Stakes DA Charter to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Demands Single-Shot Arrear Payout.

Hills Live News, DISPUR / GUWAHATI, Nov 3: In a masterstroke of systemic advocacy right ahead of the Festival of Lights, the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP)—the formidable vanguard of Assam’s state workforce—has escalated its pitch straight to the highest corridors of power. Sending clear ripples across the state’s political and bureaucratic landscape, the apex body has submitted a high-priority memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, demanding the immediate release of the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) effective from July 1, 2026, alongside all accumulated arrears in a single, upfront installment prior to Diwali.
The urgent representation, jointly endorsed by SAKP President Kumud Kumar Kataki and Secretary General Pranabjyoti Bhuyan, strikes a powerful balance between recognizing the administration’s developmental momentum and driving home an unyielding demand for workforce justice. With the Central Government having already greenlit the July 2026 DA hike for federal employees, the spotlight now shifts entirely to Dispur, where hundreds of thousands of state employees, teachers, officers, and pensioners await parity.
Underlining the pivotal role of the state machinery in executing government vision, the Parishad’s leadership asserted that the frontline bureaucracy has consistently delivered top-tier administrative governance. Delivering the enhanced DA and lump-sum arrears ahead of Diwali, the memorandum highlights, would serve as a crucial economic boost for hundreds of thousands of families, instantly electrifying public morale across the state.
Crucially, the Parishad has called for direct executive intervention from the Chief Minister to instruct the Finance Department to fast-track the sanction. Speaking to media personnel in Guwahati on this decisive development, senior Assam government employee Sailendra Pandey noted that such proactive and constructive engagement between the Karmachari Parishad and the state leadership provides significant reassurance—not only to the workforce but to the broader socio-economic fabric of Assam.
With Diwali just around the corner and public sentiment running high, all eyes are now firmly locked on Dispur for the final executive decree.
