Assam CM visits Haflong to review BJP poll preparedness in Dima Hasao

Haflong, March 22: Ahead of the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Haflong on Sunday to take stock of the BJP’s election preparations in Dima Hasao district.
On his arrival, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa, Chairman Mohet Hojai, executive members, members of the autonomous council, and representatives of various communities.
During the visit, Sarma held a closed-door meeting at Hotel Naraikho with CEM Debolal Gorlosa, BJP candidate for the 113 Haflong (ST) constituency Rupali Langthasa, along with council members, party leaders, and workers. The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s strategy for the forthcoming elections.
The Chief Minister also interacted with representatives of apex bodies, student organisations, and other stakeholders, discussing a range of local issues. He assured them of the government’s support in addressing their concerns.
Speaking to the media, Sarma appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to extend their support to the BJP, highlighting the party’s record in maintaining peace and promoting development in the district. He expressed confidence that the BJP has strong prospects in around 104 constituencies, though he noted that the final outcome would depend on the course of the campaign.
Reacting to the recent attack allegedly carried out by United Liberation Front of Asom in Tinsukia district, the Chief Minister said those involved would be identified and taken into custody.
He also announced that a proposal to create a new district in Dima Hasao would be taken up after the elections, with due consultation involving all communities.
