Massive Fire Guts Over 14 Shops at Nawaibil Mailu Market in West Karbi Anglong Kheroni,

Kheroni, Feb 4: A devastating fire broke out late last night at Mailubi Nawaibil Market of Mailu in Kheroni, under West Karbi Anglong district, reducing more than 14 shops to ashes and causing losses worth several lakhs of rupees.

The blaze destroyed grocery shops, garment stores, bookshops, hotels, and other establishments. Large quantities of goods along with cash were completely gutted in the incident. By the time fire tenders reached the spot, most of the shops had already been engulfed, leaving little scope to save property.

Shop owners have been left devastated and helpless, as many lost their entire means of livelihood in the fire. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities have started an investigation to determine how the blaze originated.

No casualties have been reported so far. Further details are awaited.
