Passengers Face Hardships at New Haflong Railway Station Amid Incomplete Redevelopment

Hills Live News Desk

Haflong, March 16:

The redevelopment of the New Haflong Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has become a matter of concern for passengers, as the work remains incomplete even after more than two and a half years since its foundation was laid.

The project was formally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 6, 2023, raising hopes among the people of Dima Hasao for a modernized railway station with improved passenger amenities.

However, the current condition of the station has left many travelers disappointed. Passengers arriving at the station are greeted with broken chairs, muddy tape water , and inadequate basic facilities.

Many commuters have expressed frustration over the lack of proper seating, adequate shed and the poor maintenance of the station area.

Adding to the inconvenience, licensed vendors occupy significant portions of the platform. As a result, passengers often struggle to find enough space to move freely, especially during peak hours when trains arrive and depart.

Local residents and frequent travelers say the slow pace of redevelopment has failed to meet the expectations that were raised when the project was announced.

They have urged the concerned railway authorities to expedite the remaining work and ensure proper facilities for passengers.

The redevelopment of the station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was expected to transform New Haflong into a modern and passenger-friendly railway hub.

However, until the work is completed and amenities are improved, commuters say the situation on the ground continues to remain far from satisfactory.
