Kheroni, March 12: Three bear cubs were rescued from Lamarang area in West Karbi Anglong after a local farmer discovered them while going to his jhum cultivation field on Thursday.
According to reports, the farmer noticed the cubs alone and informed the forest officials. The cubs were later rescued by the forest department and brought under the care of the forest range office at Kheroni.
Officials said the rescued cubs are currently being kept under observation and are receiving preliminary medical care along with proper food. Forest personnel are closely monitoring their condition.
A forest department official stated that efforts will be made to track the movement of the mother bear in the area. Once the situation is assessed, the cubs will be released back into the deep forest of West Karbi Anglong so that they can reunite with their mother in their natural habitat.
The forest department has urged local residents to inform authorities if they notice the presence of the mother bear nearby.
