Rupali Langthasa, daughter of Punil Langthasa of Diyungbra in Dima Hasao, has steadily emerged as a promising young face in regional politics. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2015 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the General Secretary of the party’s Dima Hasao unit in 2021.
A graduate of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Rupali achieved a significant milestone in 2024 when she was elected as a Member of the Autonomous Council (MAC), strengthening her political presence in Assam’s hill districts.
Continuing her upward trajectory, she has now been nominated by the BJP as its candidate for the 113 Haflong (ST) constituency in the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections. If elected, she could be among the youngest BJP legislators from the state.

Meanwhile, Dima Hasao Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa has appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to ensure the victory of the BJP candidate from the 113 Haflong (ST) constituency, emphasizing the need for peace and development in the district.

Speaking about BJP candidate Rupali Langthasa, Gorlosa said she was selected by the party due to her active involvement both within the party and in the council. He expressed confidence in her leadership and dedication.

Gorlosa further stated that the BJP is expected to secure a margin of over 25,000 votes, adding that voters in the district strongly believe there is no alternative to peace and development in Dima Hasao.
