Community Unity Brings Clean Water Back to Dittokchera

Hills Live News DITTOKCHERA, Dima Hasao October 27 — Proving that collective action leads to meaningful change, local villagers in Dittokchera have successfully resolved a longstanding water crisis through community-led maintenance of their local infrastructure.

Driven by a shared commitment to secure a reliable water source for the Greater Ditokcherra Bazar area, a team of local residents took on the critical task of repairing the primary gravity supply line. Working together on-site, the group replaced old, heavily damaged Galvanized Iron (GI) pipes with durable, corrosion-resistant High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.

Following the pipeline replacement, a sufficient volume of water successfully reached the community reservoir, restoring full capacity to the local distribution network.

”When people unite for a good cause, success is always sure to happen,” noted one of the local volunteers involved in the repair work.

With the reservoir replenished, community leaders and residents are optimistic that the upgraded pipeline will reliably fulfill the daily essential water requirements of families and shopkeepers across Greater Dittokcherra Bazar.
