DHAC Completes 75 Glorious Years; DHAC Chairman Calls for Unity in Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Haflong, April 29: The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council has completed 75 years of its historic journey today, marking a significant milestone in the region’s governance and development.
The council was established on April 29, 1952, under Article 244(2) read with the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
It was created to ensure autonomy, safeguard the rights of tribal communities, and promote self-governance in the hilly regions of Assam. Initially entrusted with a limited number of subjects, the council today administers 32 subjects, reflecting its expanded role over the decades.
On the occasion, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Chairman Mohet Hojai extended his greetings to the people and urged all residents to come together to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee year.
While the official foundation day falls on April 29, the main Platinum Jubilee celebration has been rescheduled to May 11 due to the Model Code of Conduct currently in force.
Though the council obtained permission for the celebration but with some conditions restricting the involvement of political leaders in the celebration.
The Chairman highlighted the importance of the occasion and called for active participation from all sections of society in the year-long celebrations, commemorating 75 years of dedicated service to the people of the region.
