Kokrajhar Marks 36th Death Anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma with Solemn Tributes

KOKRAJHAR, May 1: The Bodo community gathered in Kokrajhar today to solemnly commemorate the 36th death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, the revered Father of the Bodos, honoring his pivotal role in their socio-political awakening.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary led the tributes by offering floral homage at Bodofa’s statue in Thulungapuri, Dotma. The event drew BTC Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary, MPs, MLAs, MCLAs, Executive Members, ABSU president K. Wary, senior officials, and hundreds of locals who paid respects to the visionary leader.
In his address, Mohilary praised Bodofa’s brilliance, compassion, and steadfast fight for justice, indigenous identity, and community rights. “His ideals still inspire us toward unity, peace, and development,” he said.
Mohilary later visited Bodofa’s birthplace in Boragari, where he honored the site and checked on the well-being of family members.
The day’s observances began earlier at the BTC Secretariat, with MCLAs Dhaneswar Goyary and Kampa Borgoyari, alongside other dignitaries, placing wreaths at Bodofa’s statue.
