350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Commemorated in Dimapur organized by Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, and Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dimapur, organised a three-day programme from 28 to 30 August 2026 to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Police Colony, Dimapur, Nagaland.
The programme was part of the year-long national commemoration and witnessed participation by traditional Gurdwara cultural artistes, Sikh community members, devotees, local guests, community leaders and the local public throughout all three days.
28 August – Inaugural Programme
The programme began at 10:30 AM with Arambh Sri Akhand Path Sahib, followed by the inaugural programme and welcome address by Shri Harjinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia, President, Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Dimapur. Guru Prasad and refreshments were served, followed by evening prayer.
29 August – Evening Diwan
An Evening Diwan was held from 7:40–8:40 PM, followed by evening prayer. The Gurdwara premises were illuminated to mark the occasion. Guru Prasad and refreshments were served, and Langar was arranged for around 150 persons. Local guests and community heads of Dimapur participated in the programme.
30 August – Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony began with Bhog Sri Akhand Path Sahib at 11:00 AM, followed by Seva Nishan Sahib at 11:30 AM. Tea and snacks were served by the Istri Satsang Sabha.
Shabad Kirtan by Bhai Harpal Singh & Sons was presented from 11:45 AM to 1:30 PM., while Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, IPS, DIG, CID, attended as the Chief Guest.
Following the welcome address by Shri Harjinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia, the distinguished guests were felicitated by the Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee.
Director, NEZCC attended the occasion:
Shri Alobo Naga, Director, NEZCC, addressed the gathering and spoke about the life and supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He expressed the values of courage, compassion, tolerance and freedom of faith. He shared NEZCC’s commemorative programmes held at Dhubri, Maligaon, Guwahati and Hojai, and informed about upcoming programmes at Agartala, Shillong, Imphal and Naharlagun.
He said that the Northeast’s cultural, linguistic and religious diversity is its strength, and that culture can bring communities together. He stressed that the message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji remains relevant to humanity, peace, dignity, tolerance and unity.
Siropa and Mementos were presented, Ardas and Sampooran Samapti followed in the presence of heads, Presidents and Secretaries of various community organisations of Dimapur.
The programme concluded with Guru Ka Atut Langar at 2 PM, with Seva undertaken by the Samuh Sadh Sangat, Dimapur. The three-day commemoration witnessed the continued participation of traditional Gurdwara cultural artistes, Sikh community members, devotees, local public and community representatives, Dimapur based all Union or Samaj leaders, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere throughout the programme.
