Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika Inaugurates Scientific Duck and Poultry Hatchery Centre at Jagiroad

Dalim Phukan,

Hills Live News, Morigaon, Sept 1: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika today formally inaugurated a hatchery centre at Palasong under the Jagiroad Agriculture Development Circle of the Morigaon District Agriculture Department, aimed at producing ducklings and chicks from eggs using scientific methods.
The centre has been established by the Agranী Jonbeel Farmer Producer Company (Women Farmer Producer Company) with financial assistance received under the Chief Minister Utkarsh Yojana. Inaugurating the facility, Minister Hazarika highlighted the vast potential for increasing egg and chick production through scientific poultry and duck farming.
The Minister said that farmers can create additional sources of income and become financially self-reliant by producing eggs and chicks through duck and poultry farming. He particularly emphasized that such scientifically managed hatchery centres would make quality ducklings and chicks more easily available to local farmers and play an important role in the development of the livestock sector.
Hazarika further said that instead of depending on eggs and chicks brought in from other states, Assam could significantly benefit its farmers by increasing local production and meeting the demand of the local market. He assured that the Assam Government and the concerned departments would take all necessary steps in the interest of farmers’ development.
The Minister also encouraged Ila Deka, an enterprising woman farmer leading the Women Farmer Producer Company, along with its members, for taking the initiative. He expressed hope that the women farmers would be able to become economically self-reliant by establishing a suitable market for their products.
The inaugural programme was attended by Morigaon District Agriculture Officer Dilip Kumar Bora, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Mehedi Arif Huchaine, Mushahid Farooqui, Senior Agriculture Development Officer Padum Bora, Agriculture Sub-Inspector Dibyojyoti Hazarika, Media Specialist Gautam Kumar Nath, Agriculture Extension Assistants of the Jagiroad Agriculture Development Circle, other officials and employees of the concerned departments, and more than a hundred farmers.
