DHAC CEM lays foundation stone for upgradation of 15-km Jiri–Longkuk road

Haflong, Sept 2: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), Debolal Gorlosa, on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the upgradation and four-year maintenance of Corridor-2, covering the 15-km Jiri–Longkuk stretch under the Assam Disaster Resilient Hills Area Road Development Project (ADRHARDP).
The project, being implemented under Package No. CE/EAP/ADRHARDP/Pkg.2G, is expected to strengthen road connectivity and improve access to remote areas of Dima Hasao.
Speaking on the occasion, Gorlosa said a resilient road network was essential not only for transportation but also for connecting communities, strengthening the rural economy and creating new opportunities for people living in the hill district.
He said the project marked another milestone in efforts to improve infrastructure and bring development closer to the people of Dima Hasao.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by DHAC Chairman Mohet Hojai, Vice-Chairman of the District Planning Board and MAC Dhriti Thaosen, EMs Monjoy Langthasa, Manjit Naiding and Nojit Kemprai, MACs Ramgalungbe Zeme and John Phoithong, Hadingma CDC Chairman Ronmanon Johori, departmental officials, the Hadingma Mauzadar and Gaon Burhas of surrounding areas.
Gorlosa expressed gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his leadership and support for infrastructure development in the hill districts.
He said projects under ADRHARDP would contribute towards building a more connected, disaster-resilient and economically vibrant Dima Hasao.
