Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Fulfils Electoral Promise Made to the People of Barak Valley : State BJP President Dilip Saikia Welcomes Announcement of Silchar Municipal Corporation Election Date

: Assam State Election Commission’s announcement of the much-awaited election date for the Silchar Municipal Corporation has been warmly welcomed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh President Dilip Saikia.

In a statement issued by the party’s Media Panelist Tridip Moran, Saikia said, “Upgrading Silchar Municipality to a Municipal Corporation was one of the key electoral promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party. By fulfilling this promise, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has realised the long-cherished dream of the people of Barak Valley. I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for this.”

He said that the election to the 42 wards of the Silchar Municipal Corporation, scheduled to be held on October 3, will mark an important milestone in the democratic and civic administrative history of the city. With the formation of the Municipal Corporation, the people of Silchar will have the opportunity to access modern urban amenities and accelerate the overall development of the city through democratically elected representatives.

The State BJP President further said that the newly constituted Municipal Corporation would bring greater momentum to the improvement of civic services, sanitation, roads and connectivity, drainage and sewerage, water supply, street lighting, and other basic infrastructure. He expressed hope that a new environment would be created where the local administration of the Municipal Corporation, working in close coordination with the development-oriented initiatives of the State Government, would be able to fulfil the aspirations and expectations of the citizens.

“Development, good governance and public welfare together form the foundation for building a modern, clean and self-reliant Silchar. This election is not merely a formal process of electing municipal representatives; it is a historic opportunity to shape Silchar’s future urban planning, civic amenities and overall development,” Saikia said.

The State BJP President appealed to the people of Silchar to participate enthusiastically and actively in this democratic process in the interest of development and public welfare.
