MIME AND THEATRE WORKSHOP CONCLUDES SUCCESSFULLY IN MORIGAON

Hills Live News, Morigaon, September 6: A five-day mime and theatre workshop organised by the Morigaon Mime Cultural Centre concluded successfully today at Nehru Primary School in Lathabari, Morigaon town.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory of Manipur and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Around 50 trainees from across the district participated in the workshop.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Morigaon-based mime artist Mukunda Nath, recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Award of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The participants were trained on how folk dance and Sattriya dance can be incorporated into mime performances.
At the concluding function, the young students and trainees presented an impressive mime performance depicting the life of freedom fighter Shaheed Kushal Konwar. They also performed Sattriya and modern dance.
Several prominent personalities and cultural activists of Morigaon attended the concluding programme and unanimously appreciated the efforts of the Morigaon Mime Cultural Centre for taking forward the art of mime through its own initiative.
