Hill Live News, Guwahati, October 22:
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) organised a Rail Jan Samvaad programme across all divisions and stations under its jurisdiction on October 22, aiming to strengthen public participation and improve passenger services.
Conducted under the directives of the Ministry of Railways as part of Special Campaign 6.0, the initiative established a direct platform for interaction between railway authorities and passengers at railway stations.
During the programme, teams of railway officials, frontline staff and commercial supervisors interacted with passengers at station concourses and waiting halls to gather feedback on onboard comfort, station amenities and catering services. Passengers were encouraged to share their travel experiences, raise concerns and suggest improvements.
The campaign was led by senior railway officials, including the General Manager, Additional General Manager and Divisional Railway Managers. It follows the guiding philosophy of “Jan Ki Awaaz, Yuva Ki Soch & Rail Ka Samadhaan.”
As part of the initiative, Rail Jan Yuva Samvaad seeks to encourage young commuters and students to share innovative ideas, particularly on the use of technology to improve the passenger experience.
The programme also focused on railway safety awareness. Passengers were sensitised against travelling on footboards and trespassing on railway tracks. Railway personnel highlighted safe travel practices and urged passengers to help protect public property.
According to NFR, feedback collected during the interactions will be digitised and reviewed systematically to identify issues requiring immediate attention, departmental coordination or long-term planning.
The initiative aims to translate passenger suggestions into practical improvements while strengthening accountability, transparency and public trust in railway services.
