Dima Hasao Congress Holds Protest in Haflong, Demands Removal of CEC

Haflong, Sept 28: The Dima Hasao District Congress Committee (DCC) on Monday staged a protest demonstration in front of Rajiv Bhawan here, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office.

The protest, held at around 2 pm, was part of a nationwide programme organised by the Indian National Congress over the issue.

A number of Dima Hasao Congress leaders and party workers participated in the roadside demonstration, raising slogans in support of their demand.

Interacting with the media after the demonstration, Dima Hasao DCC president elaborated on the party’s demand and said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to what the Congress described as concerns relating to the functioning of the Election Commission.

The district Congress committee said similar demonstrations were being held by party units across the country as part of the nationwide programme.
