District Administration Holds Meeting Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha in Dima Hasao

Haflong, May 27: Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival, the district administration of Dima Hasao on Wednesday convened a meeting with Presidents and Secretaries of local Masjid committees along with representatives of the Muslim community at the Circuit House in Haflong.

The meeting was chaired by Gayatri Devidas Hyalinge to create awareness regarding the guidelines and legal provisions to be followed during the celebration of Eid-ul-Zuha in the district.

During the meeting, the District Commissioner highlighted the provisions of the Assam Cattle Prevention Act and informed the gathering that cow slaughter remains strictly prohibited across the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ripunjoy Kakati and Additional District Commissioner Shhaurya Sharma were also present at the meeting. The officials issued several directives aimed at maintaining peace, communal harmony, and law and order during the festival.

The administration further instructed that graphic photographs or video clips of animal sacrifices must not be shared on social media or any online platform, warning that strict action would be taken against violations.

Community leaders attending the meeting assured full cooperation with the district administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure that Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated peacefully, harmoniously, and in compliance with the law across Dima Hasao.
