District Task Force Reviews Preparedness Against JE, AES and Dengue in Dima Hasao

Haflong, June 23: A District Task Force meeting under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) was held at the Officers’ Conference Hall of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Haflong, on Tuesday to review preparedness and strengthen preventive measures against Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), Dengue and other vector-borne diseases in Dima Hasao district.

The meeting was chaired by Partha Sarathi Jahari, ACS, Principal Secretary of NCHAC, and attended by Rebecca Changsan, ACS, Joint Secretary, NCHAC, along with senior officials from the Health Department, Public Health Engineering, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Agriculture, Education Department, Municipal Boards and other line departments.
At the outset, the Dima Hasao District Health Society presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the status of vector-borne diseases covered under the NVBDCP in the district and the preventive measures being undertaken to control their spread.
The meeting reviewed surveillance activities and discussed strategies for the prevention and control of JE, AES and Dengue, particularly in view of the monsoon season, which is considered a high-risk period for the transmission of such diseases.
Emphasis was laid on strengthening inter-departmental coordination, intensifying awareness campaigns, monitoring vulnerable areas and ensuring timely intervention to prevent outbreaks.
Addressing the meeting, Rebecca Changsan urged all line departments to work in close coordination to safeguard public health. She also called upon field-level workers to remain vigilant in high-risk areas and extend full cooperation to health personnel engaged in disease prevention and control activities.
