Dr Leelakanta Borthakur Retires as Principal of Morigaon College; Felicitation Volume Released.

Dr Leelakanta Borthakur retired today from his position as Principal of Morigaon College. On the occasion, an impressive farewell meeting was organised on the college auditorium to bid him farewell and acknowledge his contributions to the institution.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Jogen Kalita, President of the Governing Body of Morigaon College and a retired professor of Gauhati University. Hundreds of students, teachers and former students of the college participated in the programme and extended their farewell greetings to the retiring principal.
As part of the programme, a felicitation volume titled Jeevan Kritir Bikhan, dedicated to Dr Leelakanta Borthakur, was formally released by noted environmentalist and retired Gauhati University professor Dr Abani Kumar Bhagabati. The book was edited by Dr.Nilamani Phukan.
In his address, Dr Bhagabati elaborated on the intellectual environment that has developed in Morigaon district through the contributions of Morigaon College and highlighted the institution’s significant role in the socio-economic development of the district. He also spoke at length about the life and achievements of Dr Borthakur, who had served as the principal of the college for more than a decade.
Delivering the keynote address, journalist Parag Mani Aditya highlighted the changes taking place across the world and emphasised how the younger generation must prepare itself to move forward in tune with the changing times.
The programme was also attended by Dr Sarat Borkataki, retired Principal of Nagaon College; Dr. Biman Hazarika, retired Principal of Dhing College.,Parag Jyoti Mahanta ,General Secretary ACTA.
It may be mentioned here that following the retirement of Dr.Leelakanta Barthakur, Dr.Ajit Konwar ,Professor of English department is selected as Principal of Morigaon College.
