Festive Fervor Sweeps Hill Districts as 34th Zonal Karbi Youth Festival Begins

Hills Live News, WEST KARBI ANGLONG — A vibrant festive atmosphere has taken over the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong as the 34th Zonal Karbi Youth Festival officially got underway.
Blending seamlessly with the Durga Puja celebrations, the four-day cultural extravaganza began with immense enthusiasm across the region.

The annual celebration kicked off across 35 different venues spanning both hill districts. Traditional beats of the bor dhol (large drums), alongside classic and contemporary music and cultural performances, have filled the air, transforming the region into a hub of joy and unity. Resonating with popular traditional chants of “Chengpi–Chengso”, the festival highlights the rich heritage and artistic expressions of the Karbi community.
A key event took place under the Jengkha Mandal at the Thongnokbe Phelangpi playground in West Karbi Anglong. The zonal festival grounds were officially inaugurated as Dhansing Tisso, President of the local celebration committee, hoisted the Karbi festival flag amidst applause and traditional drum rhythms.
Over the next four days, thousands of youth, artists, and visitors are expected to participate in various music, dance, folk drama, and traditional sport competitions across the 35 zonal centers.
