Hills Live News,Morigaon, November 1: Morigaon district has achieved ‘Saksham’ status* under Mission Mobilization for AIDS Suraksha 2026, marking a significant milestone in its efforts towards strengthening HIV treatment coverage and achieving the national HIV/AIDS targets.
The achievement has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of the District NACP team, with the eART Care initiative playing a pivotal role in identifying and linking newly diagnosed, lost-to-follow-up and previously unlinked People Living with HIV (PLHIV) to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).
The existing Link ART Centre (LAC) facility and coordinated field-level mobilisation have significantly contributed to this progress.
To further strengthen HIV treatment services, a feasibility assessment for establishing a dedicated ART Centre at STHG Civil Hospital, Morigaon, has recently been completed by experts from the Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS). The district is hopeful of receiving approval from the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), which would further improve access to comprehensive HIV treatment and care.
This achievement reflects the commitment, teamwork and collective determination of the district NACP team and all stakeholders.
Morigaon remains committed to reaching every PLHIV, ensuring uninterrupted treatment and advancing towards the national goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat.
