Mahur March 3
In a swift and relieving development, three children reported missing from the Maibang area in Dima Hasao district were safely located and recovered by police at Mahur railway station on Tuesday.
The children, identified as Ronu Kurmi (12), Sanju Ghatuar (also referred to as Sujan Ghatuar in some reports), and Aman Kurmi (9), had gone missing from Harichandrapur — popularly known as Siding 0 Point — under the jurisdiction of Maibang Police Station on Monday afternoon, March 2.
Their disappearance sparked immediate concern among local parents and residents, prompting a search operation by authorities. Family members reported that the children were last seen in the area before vanishing.
Acting on leads, police personnel successfully traced the trio to Mahur railway station a few hours ago. All three children were found safe and sound, with no reports of harm or foul play. Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact circumstances leading to their presence at the station — whether they wandered off, boarded a train out of curiosity, or any other reason — but confirmed that they are in good health and have been reunited with their families.
The quick recovery highlights the effectiveness of coordinated police efforts in the region.
