The accolade was presented under the auspices of the Paresh Baishya Foundation in recognition of Phukan’s distinguished, long-standing contributions to journalism, media education, and literature across Assam.

Over the decades, he has worked across several leading media organizations, including the Press Trust of India (PTI), All India Radio (AIR), and *The Assam Tribune group, primarily serving on their national desks.
