Massive election rallies of United Opposition Forum at Laharighat’s Kolmoubari and Moirabari:AJP President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, former CPI(M) MLA Manoranjan Talukdar address public rallies at Kolmoubari-Moirabari

Hills Live News, Guwahati, Sept 29: As the date for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bye-election draws nearer, the United Opposition Forum and the Congress party have intensified their campaign to a fever pitch. In line with this, two massive election campaign rallies were held today at Kolmoubari and Moirabari under the Laharighat Assembly constituency in support of Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora. With the spontaneous participation of thousands of supporters, especially women, both rallies transformed into a sea of people.
Addressing the massive election rally at Kolmoubari, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President and MP Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing attack on the BJP government and AIUDF. In his speech, Gogoi stated that Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora is a courageous and dedicated woman leader. When her father, the late Kiran Bora, was an MLA, he provided shelter, service, and saved the lives of thousands of innocent people during the historic Nellie massacre. Appealing to the public to support Sibamoni Bora, the daughter of that respected family, he sharply criticized the BJP candidate. Gogoi alleged that during his tenure as District Commissioner, the BJP candidate, acting on the directives of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, illegally “pushed back” innocent Khairul Islam and harassed people through eviction drives.
Strongly criticizing Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s communal politics, Gaurav Gogoi questioned where the BJP’s sympathy was when government madrasas were shut down, fake encounters staged, and evictions carried out, contrasting it with their present outreach invoking “nationalist Miyas” while soliciting votes in Dhing, Laharighat, or Rupohihat. He also recalled the derogatory remarks made by a BJP minister referring to women as child-producing “factories” and the arrogance shown in telling people to pay rickshaw pullers only Rs 5 instead of their fair fare. He remarked that Assam has seen several Chief Ministers in its history, but the state has never witnessed a Chief Minister as communal as Himanta Biswa Sarma. In contrast, former Chief Minister, the late Tarun Gogoi, safeguarded peace and harmony for 15 years and provided security to all citizens by issuing photo voter ID cards. He warned that Congress will never tolerate the harassment of genuine Indian citizens in Assam, a land of harmony shaped by Sankardev and Azan Pir.
Exposing the clandestine understanding between the BJP and AIUDF, Gaurav Gogoi quipped that whenever Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma finds himself in trouble, he summons Badruddin Ajmal just like a “108 ambulance”. Asserting that Himanta Biswa Sarma is the true guardian of AIUDF, he noted that the people of Dhubri had rejected Ajmal by a margin of nearly 10 lakh votes, and back in 2016, Congress Legislature Party Leader Wazed Ali Choudhury had defeated him in South Salmara. Now, Himanta Biswa Sarma is attempting to pump air into the punctured tire of AIUDF to revive it. Pointing out how Badruddin Ajmal praised Modi in Parliament and Sirajuddin Ajmal termed Himanta Biswa Sarma the greatest Chief Minister of Assam in the Assembly, Gogoi stated that both BJP and AIUDF are merely focused on exploiting the poor to expand their wealth and properties in Mumbai and Dubai.
Addressing the rally at Kolmoubari, United Opposition Forum leader and Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) President Lurinjyoti Gogoi along with senior CPI(M) leader and former MLA Manoranjan Talukdar delivered speeches. Placing facts before the public regarding how the current government is dismantling democracy, stripping away voting rights, and implementing anti-people policies, the leaders urged the gathering to reject the BJP completely. Similarly, AICC General Secretary/Secretary Manoj Chauhan, former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora, and several senior Congress leaders addressed the rally.
Meanwhile, another massive election campaign rally was held at Moirabari under the Laharighat Assembly constituency in support of candidate Sibamoni Bora. Attending the rally alongside APCC President Gaurav Gogoi were Congress Legislature Party Leader Wazed Ali Choudhury, AICC Secretary and APCC Co-in-charge Manoj Chauhan, MLA Dr. Asif Nazar, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami, and numerous office-bearers from district, mandal, and block Congress committees. Expressing satisfaction, the leaders noted that the overwhelming enthusiasm, trust, and affection of the people of Moirabari have further bolstered the election campaign. With a resolve to move forward unitedly to safeguard the people’s voice and voting rights, all leaders appealed to the public to cast their ballots for the ‘Hand’ symbol in the upcoming election and ensure a landslide victory for Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora.
