Progress of Dimapur-Kohima Railway Project Reviewed

Hills Live News, Guwahati, Sept 29: Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) General Manager Ashish Bansal inspected the ongoing Dimapur-Kohima New Line Project in Nagaland on September 26 and 27 to review the progress of various railway construction works.
The 78.42-km Dimapur-Kohima New Line Project is an important railway infrastructure initiative aimed at improving rail connectivity in Nagaland. According to the railway, 31.339 km of the project has already been completed.
The project involves construction of 30 major bridges, of which 13 have been completed, and 150 minor bridges, of which 138 have been completed. Construction of 31 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and five Road Over Bridges (ROBs) is also in progress.
The new railway line will have eight stations — Dhansiri, Dhansiripar, Molvom, Pherima, Pipihema, Menguzuma, Zubza and Kohima.
During his inspection, Bansal visited important bridges and tunnels and reviewed ongoing construction works at railway stations. He also assessed the progress of various components of the project, with particular emphasis on critical infrastructure, construction standards, quality and safety requirements.
On September 28, Bansal also undertook a window trailing inspection of the Dimapur-Guwahati section and reviewed the progress of the Lumding-Furkating Double Line Project.
The visit was part of Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction)’s ongoing efforts to monitor major railway infrastructure projects and facilitate their timely completion. The projects are expected to strengthen railway connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
