APHLC Demands Release of Charchim-Prisek Massacre Inquiry Report

Hills Live News, DIPHU, October 18: The All Party Hills Leaders’ Conference (APHLC) has demanded transparency and justice on the 2005 Charchim-Prisek massacre, alleging that the Assam Government has failed to make public the Commission of Inquiry report or bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a statement issued on October 17, APHLC president J. I. Kathar (IAS Retd.) recalled that 46 Karbi people, including schoolchildren, women and men, were killed on October 17, 2005, during the Karbi-Dimasa ethnic violence in West Karbi Anglong.

The organisation expressed concern that despite the constitution of an inquiry commission, its findings have neither been made public nor placed before the Assam Legislative Assembly. It also stated that a memorandum seeking the report was submitted to the government three years ago, but no response was received.

Questioning the circumstances surrounding the violence, APHLC urged the government to disclose the inquiry findings and ensure accountability, stating that justice remains elusive for the victims and their families.
