Assam Rifles Clinch 6th MLA Cup Women’s Football Tournament

Haflong, Sept 10: The Assam Rifles Women’s Football Team emerged champions of the 6th MLA Cup 2026, All Assam Invitational Women’s Knockout Football Tournament, defeating Tea Sports Academy, Duliajan, by a convincing 5–1 margin in the grand finale held at Dishru Playground, Maibang, on Thursday.
The final match witnessed an impressive display of attacking football from Assam Rifles, who dominated proceedings and secured a comprehensive victory to lift the coveted MLA Cup.
The closing ceremony was attended by DHAC Chairman Mohet Hojai, Deputy Chairman Fleming Rupsi Sylla, and Executive Members Monjoy Langthasa, Probita Johari, Donpainon Thaosen, Ratan Jarambusa and Niranjan Hojai.
Also present were MACs Herojit Jidung, Pronath Rajiyung and John Poithong, besides other dignitaries, officials, organisers and football enthusiasts.
The successful conclusion of the tournament was hailed as a significant boost to women’s football in Dima Hasao, providing players and teams from across Assam an opportunity to showcase their talent on a competitive platform.
