District Administration Visits Dolaichunga to Reverify Damages Caused by NH Construction

Haflong, Feb 28: A team from the district administration on Saturday visited Dolaichunga village to reverify the actual damages to properties reportedly caused by the ongoing National Highway construction.
The team, comprising officials from the district administration,NHAI, forest department, police and revenue department, was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner A.K. Iliyas Nasim Ahmed. During the visit, the officials carried out a ground assessment of the loss and damages to houses, land and other properties allegedly affected by the highway construction work.
The visit comes a day after aggrieved residents of Dolaichunga had halted the ongoing construction, demanding immediate release of compensation. The affected families claimed that several dwelling houses and sources of livelihood had been damaged or lost due to the road project. They said they were compelled to stop the work as their repeated appeals for compensation had not yielded results.
During the interaction, the district administration held a meeting with the villagers and heard their grievances. Officials assured the affected families that the damages would be properly assessed and necessary steps would be taken as per government norms.
The situation in the area remained peaceful during the visit, with authorities emphasizing dialogue and verification to address the concerns of the residents.
Additional Deputy Commissioner A.K. Iliyas Nasim Ahmed interacting with media said the district would do the needful for the release of compensation so that none is left out of deprived.
The villagers also expressed satisfaction on distribution administration for realising their grievances.
