Haflong, June 2: Several student organizations of Haflong on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Silchar, through the District Commissioner of Dima Hasao, alleging large-scale discrepancies in the recently declared FYUGP Odd Semester examination results.
The memorandum, jointly signed by representatives of various student unions and associations of Haflong, expressed strong dissatisfaction over the FYUGP Odd Semester results published on May 30, 2026. The student bodies alleged that the results, declared nearly six months after the November 2025 examinations, contained numerous anomalies affecting students across different semesters.
According to the memorandum, students have reported cases of withheld or missing results, while some have alleged unexplained changes in grades. The organizations claimed that such irregularities have created uncertainty regarding the academic future of many students.
The student bodies have demanded greater transparency in the evaluation process and called upon Assam University to provide verified copies of evaluated answer scripts for scrutiny. They also urged the university administration to address all withheld results without delay and investigate allegations of irregularities in the result publication process.
In the memorandum, the organizations criticized what they described as delays in official communication regarding the issue and sought formal notifications from the university authorities rather than informal updates.
The student organizations have set June 6, 2026, as the deadline for Assam University to respond to their demands and initiate corrective measures. They warned that failure to address the concerns within the stipulated period could lead to a democratic non-cooperation movement by students of Haflong.
The memorandum was submitted by representatives of several student bodies, including the Haflong Government College Students’ Association, All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (Haflong College Unit), Bengali Students’ Union, Dimasa Students’ Union, Hmar Students’ Association, Khelma Students’ Union, Muslim Students’ Unit, Kuki Students’ Association, Karbi Students’ Organization and Biate Students’ College Union.
The student organizations have appealed to the Assam University administration and the state government to intervene and ensure transparency, accountability and timely resolution of the issue to safeguard students’ academic interests.
