Heroin worth Rs. 3.5 crores seized by Dima Hasao police in separate operation: Four including two females arrested

Haflong June 11: In a major operation against narcotic substance, the Dima Hasao police in a separate operation seized heroin worth Rs. 3.5 crores in Dima Hasao district from four individuals in a separate operation in a week. On Wednesday specific information two persons were arrested after heroin worth around Rs 2.5 crore was seized from a Bolero Pick-up at Dolaichunga village under Harangajao police station in Dima Hasao.
Senior police official of the district on Thursday informed this correspondent that the arrest was made following a specific information on attempt of drugs smuggling and during the checking heroin weighing 447 grams was seized packed in 36 soap cases concealed in lower part of the vehicle. Two person were arrested in this connection and have been booked under various section of the NDPS act. The official also informed that the vehicle sourced from Silchar was heading for Nagaon.
Earlier on Saturday the team also seized 117 grams of heroin worth around Rs. 1 crores from two female passengers in a Silchar sourced passenger train at New Haflong Railway Station. The official said that further investigation is on to ascertain where the consignment was headed for.
The official also said that earlier in the district such contraband item were seized in smaller quantities in a vials only and since January 2026 they have starts seizing heroin in larger quantities packed in soap cases (in total) worth over Rs. 35 crores in several operation across the district while also assisting counterparts from Cachar, Nagaon and Karbi Anglong district and arrested 23 persons.
