Hills Live News,Guwahati, September 9: Smooth connectivity is considered an important indicator of the development and progress of any region. Keeping this in view, the Central and Assam governments have been implementing various road development schemes across the Barak Valley with the objective of promoting its overall development.
To review the progress of these ongoing construction and development works, a high-level review meeting was held today at the Barak Valley conference room of the Assam Secretariat under the chairmanship of Assam Minister for Barak Valley Development and other departments, Krishnendu Paul.
During the meeting, the Minister took stock of the progress of various schemes from the concerned departmental officials. He reviewed several major ongoing projects in the Barak Valley, including works under Asom Mala and PMGSY, the road construction project from Manohar to Panchgram, the road from Silchar to Suraibari, construction of a concrete road bridge over the Barak River at Gandhighat, construction of the Sribhumi Medical College, construction of the Silchar District Commissioner’s Office, and repair of the connecting road to Silchar Medical College and University, among other projects.
The Minister directed the officials to ensure that all the ambitious schemes and initiatives undertaken by the Central and state governments for the development of the Barak Valley are implemented within the stipulated timeframe and according to prescribed quality standards. He stressed that the department must not compromise on the quality or timely execution of the projects.
He further warned that no negligence would be tolerated in the implementation of the development works. The Minister urged the officials to dedicate themselves to their respective responsibilities with a spirit of service.
Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Kaushik Rai, MLAs Amiya Kanti Das, Zubeir Anam Majumdar, Bijoy Malakar, Rajdeep Goala and Aminul Haque Laskar, Additional Secretary of the Barak Valley Development Department Aditya Vikram Yadav, along with the Commissioners of the three districts of the Barak Valley and other officials, attended the review meeting.
