Hills Live News, Guwahati, Sept 28: As the polling date for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bye-election draws nearer, the Congress party, along with its alliance partners, has intensified its election campaign. Aiming to ensure the victory of Congress nominee Sibamoni Bora, massive campaign rallies are being organized day and night across various parts of the constituency. In line with this, senior Congress leadership alongside leaders of the United Opposition Forum addressed a massive election rally organized tonight by the Bengenati Mandal Congress under the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency. The rally witnessed the participation of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Gaurav Gogoi and AICC Secretary Manoj Chauhan, along with United Opposition Forum leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi, CPI(M)’s Suprakash Talukdar, CPI(ML)’s Bibek Das, CPI’s Kanak Gogoi, former MLA and senior leader Durlabh Chamua, MP Rakibul Hussain, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami, and several other prominent leaders. Addressing the massive gathering, the opposition leaders delivered fact-based and analytical speeches outlining why the public should reject the BJP under current circumstances. They called upon the people to unite and fight against the BJP government’s anti-people policies, communal polarization, and conspiracies aimed at eroding voting rights. Earlier, another massive campaign rally was held at Dhing Gate under the Nagaon-Batadrava constituency in support of candidate Sibamoni Bora. The rally was attended by APCC President Gaurav Gogoi, Co-in-charge Manoj Chauhan, former MLA Durlav Chamua, Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur Goswami, District Congress President Runumoni Bora, Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) spokesperson Kunki Choudhury, alongside leaders from state, district, mandal, and block Congress committees. The spontaneous turnout and overwhelming enthusiasm of the people at Dhing Gate reflected strong public support for Sibamoni Bora. Speakers urged the public to move forward unitedly to safeguard their democratic voice, rights, and collective interests.Similarly, another large-scale campaign rally was organized under the initiative of the Katoni Mandal Congress Committee under the Nagaon-Batadrava Assembly constituency. The gathering was attended by APCC President Gaurav Gogoi, AICC Secretary and Assam Co-in-charge Manoj Chauhan, MP Rakibul Hussain, Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Dr. Joy Prakash Das, Mira Borthakur Goswami, Runumoni Bora, AJP leader Kunki Choudhury, and several other party office-bearers. The positive response of the thousands assembled at Katoni further energized the opposition camp. Across every rally at Dhing Gate, Katoni, and Bengenati, leaders spoke out strongly against the BJP government’s corruption and undermining of democracy, urging voters to cast their ballots for the ‘Hand’ symbol in the upcoming bye-election to ensure a decisive victory for Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora.
