District Level Eco-Hackathon in Dima Hasao

The District Level Eco-Hackathon cum Exhibition was successfully held at the Cultural Institute Hall in Haflong under the Environment Education Programme.
The programme was organised by HELP Society, the District Nodal Agency for the Environment Education Programme in Dima Hasao. It was implemented by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council under the Science and Technology Department, Government of Assam, with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
Altogether, 40 schools from across the district took part in the event. Each school was represented by two students and a teacher-in-charge. Participants displayed innovative models focusing on climate action, waste management, renewable energy, sustainability, and eco-friendly practices.
Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Munindra Nath Ngatey, attended the programme and appreciated the students for their creativity and commitment towards environmental protection. He encouraged them to continue contributing to sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, Surojeet Das, District Coordinator of the Environment Education Programme and President of HELP Society, said the Eco-Hackathon is not just a competition but a platform to promote responsible thinking and innovation among students. He stressed the importance of strengthening Eco-Clubs and practical environmental education at the grassroots level.
All participating schools received certificates of participation. After evaluation by a panel of judges, Dibarai High School secured the first position, Kashipur ME School stood second, and Saraswati Vidya Mandir secured the third position.
