NSS Unit of Jagiroad College Organises Integrated Health Camp and Awareness Programme

The NSS Unit of Jagiroad College (Autonomous), in coordination with the District Health Authority, Morigaon, organised an Integrated Health Awareness and Health Check-up Camp on the college premises on 25 September 2026 as part of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” initiative.
The programme was designed as a comprehensive health initiative combining medical screening with health awareness and counselling, covering various important aspects of physical and mental well-being, including mental health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), sexually transmitted infections (STIs), leprosy, addiction prevention and other general health concerns.
A 27-member medical team, comprising four doctors from different specialities associated with RBSK, MMO and STHG Civil Hospital, Morigaon, along with pharmacists, laboratory technicians from RBSK and other health personnel, conducted the health camp. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a total of 134 students and faculty members availed themselves of the facilities. General health check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, haemoglobin testing, X-ray examinations, HIV screening and other necessary medical services were provided. Medicines were also distributed to beneficiaries as advised by the medical team.
Simultaneously, a formal health awareness and counselling session was conducted from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Three counsellors and health experts interacted with the students and faculty members and delivered informative sessions on different aspects of health and well-being. Nimisha Hira Bora, DPSW and Psychiatric Social Worker, spoke on mental health and related concerns, while Mayuri Gogoi, Dietician and Nutrition Expert, highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, healthy dietary practices and lifestyle choices. Bonoshree Goswami and Aleeradha Bhagawati, Counsellors-cum-DRPs, STHG Civil Hospital, Morigaon, conducted awareness sessions focusing on addiction prevention, Nasha Mukti and other health-related issues.
The awareness meeting was also graced by the presence of Dr Sailendra Bora, Joint Director of Health Services, Morigaon, who addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on maintaining good health, preventive healthcare and the importance of awareness among young people.
Dhan Chandra Lahan (STS),Riaz Uddin (STLS ) also attended the programme and led the 10 symptoms screening for TB and Chest X Ray screening with Hand Handled X Ray Machine supplied by Central TB Division,Govt of India.
The programme was led by Dr Gargi Phukon, NSS Programme Officer, Jagiroad College. Dr Utpat Rajguru, Associate Professor and Academic Council Member Secretary, Jagiroad College (Autonomous), delivered the welcome address, followed by an address by Dr Srijani Das, IQAC Coordinator, Jagiroad College.
A large number of faculty members and students of Jagiroad College actively participated in the programme. The initiative provided students with an opportunity not only to undergo comprehensive health screening but also to understand the importance of mental health, nutrition, preventive healthcare and freedom from substance addiction.
The programme marked a significant step towards promoting a healthy, aware andy addiction-free youth community and reaffirmed the commitment of the NSS Unit of Jagiroad College towards community health and the broader vision of “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.”
